About TaDehent

  • TaDehent Books is a collaboration between Josephine McCarthy and Frater Acher, along with Stuart Littlejohn as art editor/cover designer and M Sheppard who handles formatting and copyediting.

Our aim is quality over quantity, a small selection of titles that grows steadily, but is always known for the high quality esoteric/magical content. Our books have an affordable price range and are available in all formats: kindle, paperback and hardback.

TaDehent has come to life since 2017 out of two different sources: Some of its books emerged from the Quareia magical training course yet are meant to be read and studied independently. Today, however, the majority of TaDehent’s titles stem from Josephine McCarthy’s and Frater Acher’s desire to bring the whole publishing process of their works ‘in house’. Thus, TaDehent’s catalogue includes both new titles, as well as previous works from McCarthy republished here in updated, expanded and higher quality editions.

  • TaDehent is an entirely independent micro-publishing house. We do not have to bow to any of the multi-faceted interests and pressures of the publishing and book retail industry, nor do we strive to make big profits or produce popular widely selling books - instead we strive to produce books that matter.

We do not accept unsolicited manuscripts or submissions.

We also occasionally produce facsimiles of old manuscripts and long out of print books where we feel they would be useful for today’s magical readers. These facsimiles are digitally cleaned and tidied up to make them as readable as possible.

What matters to us is to publish intelligent books on magic and related subjects – books that educate, guide and inspire.

  • To ensure we can offer our books at affordable prices worldwide and with moderate shipping fees, we rely on the print-on-demand and the global distribution network of Lightning Source Ingram which places our books on every available internet retail platform.

We produce kindle, paperbacks and machine-made hardbacks through the print on demand system. This means we have no overheads for warehousing, or expensive print runs etc, which in turn means we can make books affordable without short-changing the authors or the people who work to prepare the books.

We also allow our authors to make their TaDehent tiles available as boutique hand-bound books in collaboration with master binders and experienced high-end booksellers.

At TaDehent, the company itself does not make a profit, rather all profits are distributed to those who worked on a title. Everyone from the author to the editor, designer, and office worker gets a royalty percentage from each book they work on. Once all the printing, distribution, registration, legal library and platforming fees are paid, the profit is shared out.

Our books are available on every internet book retailer and on Amazon worldwide.

  • Ta Dehent is the ancient Egyptian name of the peak El Qorn, the pyramid-shaped mountain in the Theban hills that overlook the necropolis of the Valley of the Kings, and on the other side, the Place of Truth (Set Maat – modern-day Deir El Medina) which was the village of the Craftsman.

The peak is sacred to Hathor and the cobra Goddess Meretseger, both of whom protected the tombs of the kings, and the priestly craftsmen and scribes who worked on the tombs themselves.
